On January 26, 2011, as part of their celebration of the 50th anniversary of Bob Dylan’s arrival in New York City, The Village Voice published an essay about Dylan titled, “A Word From Todd Snider: What Would You Say If You Met Bob Dylan?”

The essay was written by Snider in the style readers of The Snider Files are now familiar with — his all-lowercase, free-form blend of poetry and prose — and was nearly 1,400 words long. In it, Snider posed the question, “What are you going to do if you meet Bob Dylan?”

Snider has given The Snider Files permission to re-publish a slightly revised version of the essay, which follows:
