Todd Snider may not have found what he had missed in his recurring dream about Johnny Cash, but the question remained as to whether Cash Cabin Studio was haunted by Cash’s ghost.

On the evening of April 3, 2017, the night before Hard Working Americans began 10 days of recording at Cash Cabin, the band went to the studio and loaded in all their instruments and gear. Since Snider was the band’s singer and sometime harmonica player, he didn’t have much to load in.

Studio owner John Carter Cash was on hand to greet the band, and while Snider’s bandmates were busy with their load-in and setup, Cash invited the singer and tour manager Brian Kincaid into his father Johnny Cash’s old office at the back of the studio.
