Stacie Huckeba’s ‘Play On’
Acclaimed music photographer unveils limited print photography series
By Daryl Sanders
Many readers of The Snider Files know the name Stacie Huckeba from her decades of documenting Todd Snider’s career, and we have had the privilege of publishing a number of her photos of Snider. But her work with him is just one part of her illustrious career as an in-demand music photographer. In addition to Snider, Huckeba has worked with an array of music luminaries, including extensive work with Dolly Parton.
Just recently, Huckeba unveiled a series of photographic prints for a limited time featuring music figures who are no longer with us. Chuck Berry, Duane Eddy, Jerry Jeff Walker, Merle Haggard, Percy Sledge, Loretta Lynn, John Prine and J.D. Souther are among the 26 artists featured in the series.
The idea to honor these late legends was inspired by an impending personal loss Huckeba is facing: the passing of her beloved dog Leon. Leon is an amazing dog, a loving dog, a brave dog who has been battling a form of terminal cancer for more than a year. When Leon first received the diagnosis, he was given just four months to live. He’s made it nine months beyond that, but now there are more bad days than good, and Huckeba has come to the difficult realization that the time has come for her beloved dog to transition from this life to the next.
To help cover the high costs of Leon’s cancer treatments and to cover the expense of having his transition take place at home, Huckeba decided to make some of her exclusive photos available as limited prints.
Printed on 11 x 17 archival paper, each print is priced at $100 and will be shipped directly to the purchaser. You can view the selection of photographs Huckeba is offering here. These photographs, which will be available through the end of the holidays, would make an ideal gift for a music lover in your life or a great addition to your own walls.
